Exploring the Wonder of God's Grace

August 2, 2016 Devotional - Abram to the Rescue!

What do you do when a loved one gets into trouble?  Abram knew what to do! As soon as he heard that Lot was in trouble and had been captured, he swung into action, implemented a clever military strategy, and defeated the enemy, chasing them completely out of the area.
It would have been easy for Abram to excuse himself from helping Lot, saying that Lot’s bad decisions got him into trouble.  But is that right in God’s sight?

Abram To The Rescue!

We have all made bad decisions.  This is where God’s mercy comes in and we don’t get what we deserve.  How should this impact our ministry at International Baptist Church an Orthodox Christian Association?
We are surrounded by people who are taken captive by their bad decisions in choosing sinful behaviors rather than God’s way.  What is a Christian to do: look the other way, or offer the precious soul help?  Abram saw the need and did what he could to help Lot.
How can we be a help to those around us, whom God loves, who so desperately need the hope and new life in Jesus Christ and then to experience the freedom that He offers?
Genesis 14:13 Then a fugitive came and told Abram the Hebrew. Now he was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, and these were allies with Abram.
Genesis 14:14 When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.
Genesis 14:15 He divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.
Genesis 14:16 He brought back all the goods, and also brought back his relative Lot with his possessions, and also the women, and the people.
